The Infatuation Travel Guide, 2021
Paris is one of those cities that doesn’t need an introduction…and yet here we are. So what do we think of when we think of Paris? Rattan café chairs lined up side-by-side. Late-day light hitting Haussamanian facades just so. Narrow passageways that lead to secret rose gardens. Produce markets brimming with ripe figs in fall. Les fumeurs!
The city is ancient, with cobblestoned-quartiers and marble monuments dating back as far as the Middle Ages. It’s also famous for bygone characters both vrai and faux: Fitzgerald, Dior, Lupin, Piaf, Chanel, Belle. But Paris is very much a modern metropolis, ebbing and flowing with the rise and fall of its famous Seine river. And for a city that has always been very set in its old-fashioned ways, the last decade has seen an incredible amount of advances - especially when it comes to food. What’s more exciting than a city where there’s always a seasonal specialty on menus around town, whether it’s white asparagus in April or Mara des Bois strawberries in June? No matter when you visit, though, one thing will always ring true: you will never go hungry in this delicious city.
